The
125th Anniversary Ball Ellesmere College, 30th
May 2009.
The OE Club are organizing a celebratory Ball
at the College on 30th May 2009 to celebrate
the 125th anniversary of the founding of the
college in 1884. All OE’s, their partners
and guests are welcome and we hope that their
will be many familiar faces belonging to past
members of Common room amongst those attending.
We will be following the tried and tested format,
last successfully used for the Millennium Celebrations
in 2000 but, unfortunately, we regret that the
College is unable to offer any accommodation
on this occasion.
Saturday 30th May 2009
From noon onwards the College will be open for
OE’s to wonder around. We hope to have
a display of material from the College archives,
along with tours of the school etc. A ‘
running buffet’ for afternoon tea / sandwiches
will run in ante Chapel throughout the afternoon.
At 5.30pm there will be a full Eucharist in
the Chapel and this will be followed by a champagne
reception in Big School commencing at 6.30pm.
A full bar service and champagne bar will operate
throughout the evening until 0100 – this
will be supplemented by a wine bar prior to,
and during, Dinner.
Dinner will commence at 8.00pm and will be concluded
with minimal speeches from our President, the
Headmaster and Ian Beer.
Fireworks on the Terraces will be followed by
dancing in Big School until carriages at 0200.
Those organizing the Ball are compiling a detailed
list of local accommodation and may be approaching
various establishments in the very near future
with a view to making ‘block reservations’
or to negotiate a discount rate – in addition
to this we are considering arranging for coaches
to take guests to and from the College.
It would be greatly appreciated if you would
advise those organizing the Ball if you would
be interested in either local accommodation
or the use of coaches by either sending an e
mail to j.a.harvey@btinternet.com
or leaving a message on 01743 341065. As soon
as we know any estimated costs we will advise
them. We will impose a cut off date of 1st January
2009 for registering an interest in either of
these services.
